Ring-Fenced Teams
Your team. Our people. No rotation, no gaps
What is it?
- One blended team across Australia and the Philippines, allocated only to you. Senior engineers, QA, business analysts and delivery leads, working as one. Nobody serving two clients at once.
- A fixed monthly budget rather than a timesheet. We move the mix of skills to match what the roadmap needs. More QA before a release, quieter the month after. No change orders.
- You direct what gets built. We handle hiring, retention, performance and process, and we replace people when they move on so delivery does not stop.
- Two-week sprints through Jira or Azure DevOps, with transparent reporting on velocity, burn-down and budget. At least 80%+ overlap with Australian business hours.
How it works
- Assemble
- Onboard
- Sprint
- Demo
- Review
- Loop
One team, everything it takes to ship
You tell us what you need built. We assemble a team, onboard them to your product, and manage day-to-day delivery: engineers, QA, business analysts, delivery leads, all allocated to you. Nobody working two clients at once. This is what a managed development team actually looks like, with at least 80%+ overlap with Australian business hours.
You stay in control of scope and priorities. We handle hiring, retention, performance and process. Think of it as your development department, without the overhead of building one from scratch.
Work is managed through Jira or Azure DevOps on a two-week sprint cadence. Standups, demos, retros. Transparent reporting on velocity, burn-down and budget. No surprises.
Overlap is based on AEST. It varies for other timezones, and we state the floor rather than a best case.
Team Amplification gives you the right person. This gives you the whole squad
Team Amplification is for when you already have a team and need extra people: individual engineers or small groups who plug into your existing structure, managed by you.
Ring-Fenced Teams is the opposite problem. You need an entire managed delivery capability, not just extra hands. Maybe you do not have a development team at all. Maybe your internal team is at capacity and you need a parallel stream that runs itself.
Both models use the same talent pool, the same quality bar and the same timezone alignment. The difference is who manages the team.
For the right engagement, the team can transition to your direct employment over time. It is not the headline offer, but it is a door we are happy to open.
Built around what you can spend, not what we can bill
You agree a monthly budget. We allocate the right mix of skills to deliver against your roadmap. Need more QA before a release? We shift the allocation. Quieter month? Scale down. No renegotiation, no change orders.
This model works because we are not billing by the hour and arguing over timesheets. We are invested in your product shipping. If the team is not delivering, we hear about it first and fix it before you have to ask.
The aim:
You should feel like the team works for you, because they do. We just handle the parts you should not have to think about.
No handlers or middle managers in the way
You work with the team directly. They are effectively your team: we wear your t-shirts and get fully immersed in your product, culture and brand.
We know what makes teams function in a healthy, high-performing way. We are in this together. When something is not working, we say so. When something is, we protect it.
Questions buyers ask first
- Is this just outsourcing with a different name?
- No. Outsourcing typically means you hand over a brief and wait for a result. A ring-fenced team works with you every day: you direct the priorities, you are in the standups. The difference is who manages the people, not who manages the work.
- How is the team structured?
- One blended team across Australia and the Philippines, working Australian business hours. Delivery is led from Australia, but engineering, QA and product roles sit in both countries, not split by seniority. On drtalk that spans senior React development and product strategy in Brisbane, backend technical leadership in Sydney, project management in Perth, and senior backend, Azure and QA engineering in Manila.
- What is the minimum commitment?
- We recommend twelve months minimum. The value of a ring-fenced team comes from continuity. Shorter engagements are better suited to Team Amplification.
- Can I scale the team up or down?
- Yes. Budget reviews happen twice a year, and between reviews we can adjust the team composition by mutual agreement. The goal is flexibility within predictable cost.
- What happens if someone leaves?
- We handle the replacement. You do not deal with recruitment, onboarding or notice periods, and the team keeps delivering while we find the right person.
